The Issue: Economy

John McCain:

America is facing a devastating problem. The economy is dropping and people are losing their jobs and homes. Most people are in debt. So, what's John McCain's idea to fix this mess? What he proposes to do is to make Bush's two tax cuts permanent and to reduce government spending, which he says is wasteful. By doing this he thinks that the economy will be back on track.

Barack Obama:

What Obama plans to do is to cut back Bush's tax cuts on the wealthiest Americans. Depending on the state of the economy, Senator Obama would raise taxes on families making more than $250,000 and on large companies, too. By this, almost all other Americans would pay less in their taxes. But, not only that, Obama promises to make jobs in part by investing in highways, schools, public transportation, and other elements of the country that experts say are in danger.
